![]() ![]() The control scheme of flicking the sticks to do tricks is a perfect example of something that is easy to pick up yet challenging to master and they do a brilliant job of folding quite a lot of tricks into one stick. The animations and physics are top notch and still hold up today. It is great fun and a nice distraction from the actual skating part of the game. This on its own is highly entertaining, gaining ridiculous levels of speed or height and then watching as your character lands with a sickening crunch of bones snapping before being presented with an x-ray view of what broke and where. The game understands this appeal too, adding in a whole list of missions called "Hall of Meat" where the objective is to hurt your skater in a variety of creative and cringe inducing ways. A large part of its popularity in streaming is the bailout ragdoll physics which can have some hilarious and always unique results. ![]() The game has aged incredibly well and its popularity in the world of streaming gaming channels actually caused EA to do a reprint of the game some 8 years after it's original release, this in the world of gaming is extremely rare, especially in this age of digital downloads. What it did however was make subtle tweaks to an already brilliant formula to really make the best skate game possible.
